It's turbocharged, chain driven and without intercooler.

The best way is to check the number engraved on the engine.
For exact location, look at the diagram published by "B120 Frankfurt". This number is not easy to access... If it's as difficult as the Iveco Daily (same engine), you may need to remove the alternator and possibly the exhaust manifold to see it.

In my vehicle registration certificate it says
8140.23
2799ccm
78kW

The manual says 2499ccm.

On some other older vehicle documents it says
2499ccm and 78kW

That's why I'm confused.

I tried to look at the code on the engine but it's quite impossible to see.

in my perception, engines with timing chains are extremely rare at Renault.
Perhaps the owners of IVECOs can answer your question.
But I'm afraid, that there is no visible difference, and you really need to read the engine number.

So I tried with a torch and my phone. After many attempts I somehow got it
