Hello,

I am Sjoerd from the Netherlands and while searching for a new vehicle I found this forum. I own a Volkswagen T3 syncro 16" with westfalia interior. I love travelling with this car but the family has grown. A few years ago I drove to Dakar is a Asia Rocksta and last year I drove through Morrocco for 7 weeks and did 2500 km off pistes in the east along the algerien border and the south.

Ever since Morrocco I am trying to deal with a problem! I do like my volkswagen a lot and it has many quality's. It's small but efficient, low cost in fuel consumption, tax, ferry's, peages, 4 seats, standard driving license...and many more. But since we have the baby I like the idea of owning a small truck which ads the luxery of more space, toilet, shower and storage.

Its hard to find the perfect truck for my wishlist! Mayby this forum will help!!

Glad to hear that you enjoy your VW T3.
We would love to see pictures of places you visited and of your T3 "in action"!

Your question is a typical one on this forum, see below for a recent discussion on same topic:

First step is to know/define what the main criteria of your wishes are for the next few years.
Then search for a vehicle that will satisfy most of those criteria.
=> A perfect match is seldom possible; compromises will have to be made...

Thanks for the welcome! Here by I add some pictures from the van. It's a pitty I dont understand a lot of french but I will try to read the forum! Good to learn while it will help in Afrika !!

The thing is.... I know what I want but its not out there i guess!!!! I seek for a small solid offroad truck with 4 seats ( compromise would make 3 ) and
enough length to fit a 3,60 - 4,00 meter campercabin with stays below 7500 kg because of driving-license.

If the compromise must be done to make it a 3 seater it could become the MAN 10.220 but I like the looks of the Iveco 80-17. I must figure out if I can make
the châssis of the 6 pers double cab Iveco a bit longer!

Everything is possible ! But so much hassle...
I would suggest you look for a truck fitting your criteria without major modfications.
Creating and fitting the "camper" section si already quite a bit of work.

Also, it would be easier to get a truck in your own country, or try in Germany where they have lots of possibilities...

Do not forget the availability of spare parts!
