Thank you so much for replying, it's a big help after having felt rather stuck for the past days.

Thank you for the information about the website, I will be in touch with them. I was just wondering if by a 4x2 you mean a standerd two wheel drive iveco? I have been told it will not be possible to put my transfer box onto a standard gearbox. Is this true? What is your advice on what I can do? And yes, I will definately register myself as it's a very good site!

For the motor, i think the best price in France are in this site :
http://www.moteurs-diesel-distribution.fr ask for Didier from our part.
For the gearbox you can easily find one on a old 4x2 IVECO.

In first could you tell us where are you in France ?

What exactly happend to your 4x4 IVECO daily ? Realy both motor and gearbox are broken ?

hi there i am in toulouse now but the van is still near brive in the garage. what happend is the engine blew up! we were driving along the motorway and it expoded. As it blew up, it apparently damaged the bellhousing 'lacloche' and the input shaft and starter motor. So now I'm looking for lots of solutions what I can do to get the van fixed. I have been told that a non 4x4 engine will fit; is this true? If not, do you know where I can get a 4x4 engine 'moteur' in France? I have managed to get hold of a 4x4 gearbox already.

But there 's a difference between the clutch of a 2.5L /2.8L:

well, hopefully you're problem has been solved since...

just to ad that normally 4x2 engines fit in the 4x4 model but you need to use the oil tank from the bottom of yours instead of the one that you would find on the 4x2 engine... and beside, knowing someone that did it (jean michel in germany) there might remain some likage that he solved with a bit of silicon... don't know exactly why and where.
